Well, if you didn’t dislike cingular before today, perhaps this will sway your decision. A california woman had her cell phone stolen and then she left the country on vacation. Unaware that her phone was missing, her account racked up an enormous bill - $26,472.54 to be exact. Seems a bit exaggerated, right? So what does Cingular do - makes her pay it!
Despite her ability to provide proof that she was out of the country during the time that her phone made these calls from the states, Cingular insisted that she owed the money. These phone companies have terms in their contract that state the user is responsible for all charges up until the point that the phone is reported as stolen. So, technically she has to pay it from her own pocket.
This story isn’t new and also you don’t have to worry, after cbs5 stepped in to do the story they gave Cingular a call - Cingular agreed to drop the charges at this point. Absolutely crazy! Watch the story here: http://cbs5.com/30minutes/local_story_259184928.html
I’m torn between my hatred of the implications of this story and the fact that the iPhone will be on Cingular . . .
Yeah dude - that sucks!
