Does not work with Visa, it keeps looking for active sync which does not exist for Vista.

Thanks Kevin, this is good to know! I have used this application prior to the release of Vista. Have you found a workaround or new product that works with Vista? Please let me know if you have.

Yes it does work with Vista. Active sync is built into Vista as part of the OS. i have my 700w connecting up perfectly. The only issue I have is that I only get 200k down. I thiught i would be getting broadband speeds..

I just spoke with the guys at PdaNet, and the word is that PdaNet will work just fine with Vista if you are using the latest version. So there you have it!

Bill,

I have not personally used this application on a Mac, however I have run across several forums where others have. Most likely you've looked into these already, but if not - you should consider looking at these two sites:

http://www.notifymail.com/palm/wmodem/
http://www.mobile-stream.com/usbmodem.html

Also, you might look into tethering via bluetooth. I hear there has been varied success in attaching mobile phones to a Mac with PdaNet via BT. If you try any of these, please report back your findings!

or, since you are stealing from Verizon, you may as well steal from June Fabrics too, and go to www.mininova.org searching "pdanet" and download the hacked FREEEEEEEEEEE version....

So i have alltel and you mentioned "If you already pay for a data plan, then you are certainly within your limits" does that mean it works off of the data plan if you have unlimited data air time for your phone?

For this post in particular, I was speaking of Verizon wireless. Having never used alltel and not being familiar with their plans - I can not make that decision for you; however, from your explanation, it would seem to me that any tethering charges would be charged solely through the data plan, leaving your airtime minutes fully intact. Do some research on the alltel billing setup, and experiment for yourself. You might even give them a call and ask a representative. Have fun and Happy Holidays!
