For the firefox users out there, quick tip - I am always clicking on a PDF document and then gritting my teeth as it crashes firefox attempting to open. I wait as if it might actually work this time, and then clench my jaws as all of my open tabs crash and burn because the firefox plugin wasn’t able to handle the PDF document. This is a problem for sure, even when it does handle the PDF document, it takes forever and a day to open still. To get around this obnoxious problem, follow these simple steps.

- Go to the “Tools -> Options” menu
- Select the “Downloads” tab
- Open “View and Edit Actions…”
- Enter “pdf” in the “Search” box
- Select “Change Action…”
- Change the selection from “Use this Plugin” to “Open them with the default application”, which should point to Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Acrobat Reader, or your favorite PDF viewer.

And that’s it - an easy solution to a pretty irritating problem.
This was originally written by someone else from somewhere else. But it’s good information regardless - so stop right now and put it to use. Ok, if you are reading this still, you didn’t stop to apply those changes, so you had better have a good reason - like you hate firefox or safari is your lover, or something to that effect. See ya.
I recently installed Acrobat 8.0 pro, have set up my firefox as you outline, and it _STILL_ crashes!
But at least it crashes acrobat, not firefox.
The only way I can open PDF files is do download them then open them locally.

Danny, Let me know if you find a fix to this issue. Perhaps this 8.0 pro is exempt from this solution. Also, did you restart firefox and or your computer after this change? Let me know what you find.
