Pong: an adaptation of table tennis to the video screen, was the first commercially successful video game and is widely regarded as ushering in the video game era.

Now that’s an intresting old poster of the original famous Pong made by who else but Atari (I think from 1973). I however have found a recent online version of pong that is slightly different from those that you’ve played in the past I’m certain! I came across this version and found myself mildly entertained for a while. Beyond the interesting normal changes there are two characteristics that make the game more enjoyable (1) The computer can and often does lose (2) There is a multiplayer option. Check it out: http://www.armorgames.com/games/pong_popup.html

If you want to read further on the history of Pong and have nothing better to do today, check out the Pong Story. These guys have put together a timeline saga of Pong. I guess it’s always good to know from where our fun is derived.
